Here we are in 2018 and turmeric is still trendy.
In December, McCormick launched their annual Flavor Forecast campaign, where they identify the next major food trends. My favorite? Drink to your wellness of course.
Good news for me because that means I get to share this beautiful 24k Gold Vanilla Turmeric Latte with you.
But here’s the bad news: there isn’t any actual 24k gold included, however the turmeric latte should make you feel like a million bucks, so at least we’ve got that going on.
One of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago just started to make a turmeric latte and I can’t get enough; there’s a sprinkle of cinnamon on top and a golden hue that makes me feel like I’m drinking a cup of sunshine. Golden milk mustaches all around.
So what’s in a turmeric latte and what’s all the craze around this trendy yellow pot of gold?
McCormick Ground Turmeric: This golden yellow spice has been known to contain anti inflammatory properties, which means it’s wonderful post workout to soothe muscle pain & help recovery, and also amazing for those who suffer from arthritis.
Honey: A natural sweetener which is known to ease a sore throat + it also contains antibacterial properties. I LOVE manuka honey from New Zealand.
Cinnamon: This spice has been known to help regulate blood sugar levels + it contains plenty of antioxidants. There’s also something incredibly special about cinnamon simmering away on your stovetop.
Coconut milk + almond milk: I like to use a mixture of almond milk and coconut milk in my turmeric lattes to keep them creamy, sweet and full of natural delicious flavor.
McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract: You can use vanilla almond milk and add an extra splash of vanilla extract in your latte if you love vanilla as much as I do!

24k Gold Vanilla Turmeric Latte
Ingredients
- 1 (15 oz) can coconut milk (can use light coconut milk, but flavor won’t be as rich)
- 1 cup vanilla almond milk (can also use unsweetened almond milk)
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ½-1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup, to sweeten
- 1 teaspoon McCormick ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon McCormick ground cinnamon
- Pinch of McCormick ground nutmeg
- Pinch of McCormick cardamom
- Extra ground cinnamon, for sprinkling on top
Instructions
- In a small pot, add coconut milk, almond milk, vanilla, honey, ground turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom. Whisk together and bring ingredients to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 3-5 minutes to reduce the mixture a bit; stirring occasionally.
- Pour into 2 small mugs, then sprinkle with a little ground cinnamon on top, or add a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!

Get the milk in the cartons. No chemicals from cans and yes shake it up always. So Delicious is selling them now at some Walmarts and you can order it online at Walmart.com. It’s organic from them. You can buy sweetened, unsweetened and vanilla added. I found it is the cheapest there.
Sorry Monique, was replying to Ali below. I tried this one and am passing it along. It was fantastic. I was sick and tired of being sick so went for it. I can’t have the cardamom so replaced with cloves. Same with Almond milk so just used more coconut milk. This was great. Thanks for sharing.

Looks delicious! You should consider adding a pinch of black pepper to the recipe though! Otherwise, the active compound in turmeric (responsible for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties) will not be properly absorbed! Food for thought 🙂

This looks delicious! My first time commenting but I have made and enjoy many of the recipes on your blog. I just wanted to comment to share that curcumin, the chemical in tumeric that is responsible for its anti-inflammatory properties, is not bioavailable (absorbable by the human body) unless either heated in oil or combined with black pepper. A little bit of either coconut oil or black pepper would be delicious in this, so one of those might be great additions!

This looks amazing, and can’t wait to try this out! I have a question though… whenever I use coconut milk from a can it’s always separated with cream at the top and the liquid at the bottom, am I suppose to shake the can prior to opening to mix it or are you only using the liquid in the can?

I’ve been following your blog for awhile now and this looks delicious! Just letting you know though, I have seen a food brand called live 24k that makes a golden milk blend with similar ingredients… You should check it out, I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble with copyrights and stuff!
Hi Bridget! Thanks for looking out, and not to worry 🙂 Turmeric lattes typically have super simple ingredients (like the ones I picked out for mine here), so having ingredient overlap with other recipes is common! I added my own twists with the sweetener, milks, etc. that I used here.
It’s all sounds great, but bringing honey to boil kills all its healthy properties!

Wonderful recipe; love having these “out,” but they’re pricey, and I never knew which ingredients went in. Now will make one this very (snowy) afternoon! Thanks! Just one tip–if you use honey from NZ, you miss all the wonderful immune boosters that come from eating honey local to your area. I always consider those an extra health kick I’m getting.

I’ve been drinking turmeric lattes for a while and this is now my go-to recipe (and my mom’s)! It’s SO creamy and delicious, and the use of the full-fat coconut milk means you don’t need to add as much sweetener. Thanks for another great recipe 🙂

Just what we needed for our Woe-is-me during CV19 pity party. Nice afternoon treat. I had regular coconut canned milk and was surprised how much fat/cream there was. Will get a can of Lite next time. Spice cupboard is a little sad right now, no cardamom or nutmeg, so I Subbed in a little ground ginger and it worked fine. This will replace hot coco and chai latte mixes for me! I now like drinking turmeric better than eating it!

Lovely recipe! Honestly, this tasted SO much better than the turmeric lattes I’ve ordered in cafes and the cardamom offers a nice subtle aftertaste. I did use a strainer when pouring the latte into my cup to help combat a mouthful of spice, which worked great! Thank YOU!!! It was the perfect treat for the cooler weather we’re starting to get in the Northeast.

I really love a cup of Gold Milk.
But:
1st – honey shouldn’t be heated, if so it will turn toxic instead of medicinal. Just add honey to the cup/mug after a few minutes of being prepared.
2nd- it will be more nutritious if done with high quality, organic milk.
